The Union is filing a general grievance on behalf of
the Flight Attendants at Continental Airlines
regarding the disciplinary actions in progress involving the
EEMK. District 142 will be processing the grievance and we
will update you with information as it becomes available. If
you are assessed any discipline in relation to the EEMK,
please notify your Local Lodge Base Chairperson.
Continental Selects Chautauqua To Operate 44
Regional Jets – Republic Airways' Chautauqua
Airlines unit will operate 44 regional jets for Continental
Airlines. The agreement will allow Continental Airlines to
reduce its fleet of regional jets.
Gulfstream Flight Attendants Join IAM – By
nearly a two to one margin, Flight Attendants at Gulfstream
International Airlines have overwhelmingly voted for IAM
representation in a National Mediation Board (NMB) election.
Gulfstream International, serving 12 Florida destinations
and 10 locations in the Bahamas, is one of the fastest
growing regional air carriers in the United States and is
ranked the 4th largest regional carrier in terms of
passengers flown. Gulfstream operates as a code share
partner of Continental Airlines, United Airlines and
Northwest Airlines. The IAM also expects to file a petition
with the NMB seeking an election to represent Gulfstream’s
ramp workers.
No Agreement In Comair Talks – Comair and
its flight attendants union exchanged two proposals during
contract talks Wednesday but did not reach an agreement. The
union expects talks to resume the second week of August. The
company says it hopes to reach a settlement with the
workers.
Judge Approves Northwest Flight Attendants Contract
– A bankruptcy judge has approved a contract with
Northwest Airlines flight attendants intended to save the
bankrupt carrier up to $200 million a year. The agreement,
reached July 17, cuts pay and benefits for the workers by
21%.
Congress Forges Tentative Pension Deal – A
new pension rule could materialize soon as congressional
leaders work through their differences on the direction of
reform. A tentative agreement involves allowing companies to
advise employees on 401(k) investments and outlines how the
government will cover for companies unable to meet their
pension fund requirements, House and Senate aides say.
