Unions To Rally December 8 In Washington, D.C. – More than 2,000 union activists are expected at a midday rally on December 8th in Washington, D.C., to tell lawmakers that restoring workers’ rights in the U.S. must be a top priority for the 110th Congress. Elected officials will have a golden opportunity to deliver on promises of support made to union members during the recent campaign by quickly passing the Employee Free Choice Act.  The Employee Free Choice Act, which drew bipartisan support in the 109th Congress, would amend the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) to allow private-sector workers to form unions by signing a card or petition. The act also would impose penalties on employers who violate the law and allow for arbitration to settle first-contract disputes. The December 8th Rally will kick off three days of activity that will culminate with International Human Rights Day on December 10th, the anniversary of the ratification of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognized the right to join a union and bargain as a basic human right.

Continental Flight Attendants can now review a Pension Plan Q & A that addresses many of the most frequently asked questions and provides answers for you to consider.  Copies of the Q & A will be available in the crew rooms at the Union Desk or you can view them online at www.iamdl142.org/fa right now.  Learn more about what you have to gain by transitioning to the IAM National Pension Plan.  Visit the NPP website at www.iamnpf.org for more information.

Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants are advised that LL2339G has moved their Monthly Business Meeting to December 13th.  The meeting was moved-up one week to encourage more members to attend and to not be in conflict with the Holidays.  It will remain at the same location and time which is noted at the end of this message.

Northwest Flight Attendants Request Right To Strike – Northwest Airlines flight attendants on Tuesday asked a federal appeals court to overrule a lower court decision that prevents them from striking while they are in contract talks.
