Israeli
Fighter Jets Intercept Continental 777 - Israel
scrambled fighter jets to intercept and then escort an
American commercial passenger plane to landing on Wednesday,
Israeli officials said. An Airports Authority spokeswoman
said Continental Airlines' Flight 90 was intercepted after
it failed to identify itself upon entering Israeli
airspace. The plane, a Boeing 777, was on a scheduled
flight from , N.J. All passengers and crew disembarked
safely, Israeli officials said. The Transportation Ministry
said it was investigating whether there was a technical
reason for the initial lack of communication between the
plane and Israeli ground control. The Jerusalem Post
reported that the incident was the closest that the Israeli
Air Force has ever come to firing on a civilian airliner.

Corporate Charter Negotiations Update - As reported
to you on February 14th, 2007, Corporate Charter
negotiations were recessed on January 31st, 2007,
due to the company’s absolute refusal to increase the
override pay while insisting we agree to ignore many of the
basis principals of the current Collective Bargaining
Agreement. Such proposed agreement would result in
separate, inferior work rules for the corporate Charter
Flight Attendant. Unfortunately, there is nothing new to
report at this time. Last October, the company made its
first, last and only pay offer of $2.00 per hour above the
current regular charter override pay, current contract 4
(T), page 27. The company has refused to improve its offer
ever since. In view of the company’s steadfast refusal to
increase corporate charter compensation, or change its
position regarding certain work rules, additional meetings
have not occurred. Discussions to determine our future
course of action will be taking place this week. You will
be advised of any further developments as they occur. Your
continued patience and support is appreciated. Sincerely
and fraternally, Art Teolis, Julie Frietchen & Brian
Wozniak, IAM District 142 General Chairpersons.
